Can a mobile notary come to your home or office for estate documents?

Yes. A mobile notary can meet you at home or office to perform the required notarial acts on eligible estate planning documents. Any separate witness and signing requirements must also be satisfied.

A home appointment can be especially convenient when spouses have separate document packages, several signatures require notarization or you want to avoid coordinating multiple trips. Each person whose signature needs notarization must participate personally.

I’m William, owner of Knox Notary Co.. My background includes more than 20 years in notary, mortgage, title and document-signing work. You work directly with me to arrange the appointment and discuss what needs to be ready.

What estate planning documents can be included?

You can request an appointment for several prepared documents together. Depending on your package, those may include:

  • Revocable living trusts, trust amendments and certifications of trust.

  • Financial, durable or limited powers of attorney.

  • Healthcare powers of attorney and advance directives.

  • Self-proving affidavits accompanying wills.

  • Deeds and other trust-related property documents.

  • Additional affidavits or authorizations supplied by your attorney or document provider.

Not every document in an estate plan requires notarization. Some require witnesses, some contain notarial certificates and others have different signing instructions. Confirm the requirements for your actual package with the attorney or provider who prepared it.

I can review the notarial sections to help plan the appointment. I do not prepare estate plans, select legal forms or advise you on what your documents should say.

Does a will need a notary in Tennessee?

A notary stamp alone does not make a will valid or replace required witnesses.

For a typical typed Tennessee will, execution generally involves at least two attesting witnesses and specific signing requirements. A separate self-proving affidavit may be included for notarization. That affidavit serves a different purpose from the will’s witness signatures.

If your package includes a will, ask your attorney or document provider to identify the required participants and signing sequence before the appointment. Have those instructions available, and let me know about the will and any affidavit when scheduling.

Can my spouse and I sign our estate packages together?

Yes, you can request one appointment for both spouses to complete the required notarizations in their respective prepared packages.

For example, each spouse may have a power of attorney, healthcare document and additional estate paperwork. We’ll confirm which signatures require notarization and whether witnesses must attend.

Please provide the number of signers and the documents in each package when requesting a quote. If your preparer supplied duplicate originals, mention those too; extra originals can mean additional notarizations.

Do trusts and estate documents need witnesses?

Requirements vary by document. Do not assume that every trust, will, power of attorney or healthcare form follows the same rules.

For example, Tennessee’s official Advance Directive for Health Care form provides an option for either two qualifying witnesses or notarization. Your other documents may use a different process.

Before scheduling, confirm:

  • Whether witnesses are required and how many.

  • Who is eligible to serve.

  • Whether witnesses must attend the entire signing.

  • Whether the notary must be separate from the document witnesses.

Witness availability may be arranged for certain appointments with advance notice. Please discuss this before booking; availability and additional fees must be confirmed.

How much does an estate-document notary appointment cost?

Mobile notary appointments are $75 within my local Knoxville service area, including travel, up to two signers and up to three signatures notarized per person.

A larger estate package may exceed that allowance. Additional notarizations, signers, travel, witness coordination, waiting time or special services may increase the total. I’ll confirm the full price before booking.

For a package quote, send your appointment location, number of signers, document types and any witness needs. If you do not know how many notarizations are involved, let me know.

See the Knoxville mobile notary pricing guide for more information.

Where are mobile appointments available?

I’m based in Knoxville and provide appointments throughout the greater Knoxville area, including Farragut, Powell, Halls, Karns, Hardin Valley and Fountain City.

Appointments may also be available in Oak Ridge, Clinton, Maryville, Alcoa, Lenoir City, Loudon, Sevierville and surrounding East Tennessee communities. Availability and travel pricing depend on the exact address.

If a loved one is in a hospital, rehabilitation center or senior community, see my hospital and senior-care notarization guide for preparation and access considerations.

Common questions about estate-document appointments

Can you notarize documents prepared through an online estate planning service?

Potentially. Tell me which documents you have, and provide the complete package and the service’s signing instructions. Eligibility depends on the documents and the requested notarial acts.

Can you tell me whether my estate plan is legally complete?

No. Questions about legal completeness, document selection, trust funding or the effect of your documents belong with your attorney. My service covers the agreed signing logistics and required notarial acts.

Are evening or weekend appointments available?

Evening and weekend mobile notary appointments may be available. Contact me with your location and preferred time to check the schedule.

Can estate documents be notarized online instead?

Certain documents may be eligible for Remote Online Notarization. A will or complete estate package should not be assumed eligible just because one document can be notarized online. Confirm document-specific requirements with your attorney or provider before choosing that option.
